| Josh Kurtz Interview on WarCry Filed under: News — Paul @ 11:08 am on November 28th, 2007 |
Stargate Worlds Dev Journal: Cover in Combat, an Interrogation from the WarCry network. Covering what was said (pretty much) on the forums, and in Episode 3 of Gate Buzz.
What’s really nice is the concept art though - take a look - it gives a good idea of some cover that will appear in-game.

It was bound to happen: having got the audio hardware together to be able to podcast, someone wondered if it would be possible to live-stream music and talk to listeners. Turns out a small investment for Nicecast got my studio Mac Mini streaming and I was away. No sooner did they find out I could stream the tunes, than I was asked to DJ the official Winter party for the Vixens faction in “The Matrix Online”. Sweet gig! That party was one of THE highlights of the MxO Winter Season on the Syntax server last year, and screenshots made it onto the main “Data Node One” web forum. So, here’s hoping the decent quality mic arrives in time and I dont have to use my USB headset for this one!

This week’s news and buzz, brought to you by the letters K, B and F (covering interviews by Kevin Balentine) and the number 3.
| Interview with Josh Kurtz Filed under: News — Paul @ 3:44 pm on November 20th, 2007 |
Josh Kurtz (lead world builder for Stargate Worlds) gave an interview to the folks at Stargate Fusion where he said,
The MMO market is a dangerous place because to be honest the exploration of how to build one and what will make a good one has only just begun. Think of it as kind of like when the British first started really exploring India. In fact in many ways building an MMO could be related to travelling through the Stargate, you are taking the knowledge you have into a place few people have been with no idea of the pitfalls that await you or the monsters waiting in the shadows to kill you in messy ways. That being said I think that the team we have assembled here really knows what they are doing and the project is headed in some very positive directions. So yes, I do think this game has a shot at being one of the main titles in the genre.
Very, very cool stuff!

If you’ve visited my MySpace page you’ll see my status says “having fun with pro audio equipment” with a mood of “excited”. How could I not be? I got me a new toy:

Give a geek his toys, and you make his week!

The big news this week was the dev chat, hosted by MMORPG.com on November 8th. I’ve posted the log from my own IRC client on GateBuzz, but there’s also a full transcript over at MMORPG.com too. While you are there you will want to also read their editorial too. The main Stargate Worlds website included a short comment of their own that basically pointed visitors to the material on MMORPG.com for full details.
