MMORPG.com linked to an article over on Gateworld.net (so, it must be true!) saying

Gateworld.net has announced that when Stargate Atlantis returns to Sci-Fi on January 4th, they will be showing a trailer for Stargate Worlds.

Further to that, the Jan. 11th episode of the show will kick off a new SGW promotion.

See the MMORPG.com news posting.

And over on the Gateworld.net news article that they linked to, it says

…make sure to tune in to Atlantis when it returns from the holiday break on January 4. That night will feature the first look at the Stargate Worlds game trailer.

So, now we know why the main splash page for SGW has been updated!

An interesting, if short, interview with Chris Bernert appeared on the mmolecule website. Once again the main SGW website plugged it as being about the “death effect” (or rather, the “defeat” effect) in-game but it covers a lot more interesting ground than that.

For my thoughts, stay tuned as I’ll be talking about this interview and the Dev Q+A in tonight’s “Episode 6″ of Gate Buzz.

The much anticipated and eagerly awaited “Dev Q+A V” is now available from CME. Looks like there was a false start on getting the link onto the site which some of the more eager fans were quick to notice and post about. *cough*Captain_Quint*cough*

Discussion of the CME podcast is occurring in the Stargate Worlds Forums

“A little late?” you ask, “more like a lot late!”

In the middle of uploading the file last night there was a power outage! *waves fist at the electrical company* Grrr! If Filezilla is to be believed, in two minutes time the upload should be complete and episode 5 ready to go. Thanks for hanging in there!

Stargate Worlds Dev Journal: Cover in Combat, an Interrogation from the WarCry network. Covering what was said (pretty much) on the forums, and in Episode 3 of Gate Buzz.

What’s really nice is the concept art though - take a look - it gives a good idea of some cover that will appear in-game.

It was bound to happen: having got the audio hardware together to be able to podcast, someone wondered if it would be possible to live-stream music and talk to listeners. Turns out a small investment for Nicecast got my studio Mac Mini streaming and I was away. No sooner did they find out I could stream the tunes, than I was asked to DJ the official Winter party for the Vixens faction in “The Matrix Online”. Sweet gig! That party was one of THE highlights of the MxO Winter Season on the Syntax server last year, and screenshots made it onto the main “Data Node One” web forum. So, here’s hoping the decent quality mic arrives in time and I dont have to use my USB headset for this one!

Josh Kurtz (lead world builder for Stargate Worlds) gave an interview to the folks at Stargate Fusion where he said,

The MMO market is a dangerous place because to be honest the exploration of how to build one and what will make a good one has only just begun. Think of it as kind of like when the British first started really exploring India. In fact in many ways building an MMO could be related to travelling through the Stargate, you are taking the knowledge you have into a place few people have been with no idea of the pitfalls that await you or the monsters waiting in the shadows to kill you in messy ways. That being said I think that the team we have assembled here really knows what they are doing and the project is headed in some very positive directions. So yes, I do think this game has a shot at being one of the main titles in the genre.

Very, very cool stuff!

I cant believe how time is getting away from me!

Episode 2 of the podcast is in the works - Im taking a break from writing material for it to post this blog entry - so should be available “RSN” (that is, “real soon now”). My guess is in the next couple of days. I plan to cover this weeks dev chat (hosted by the kind folks at MMORPG.com) with an ultra-quick roundup of thoughts that have been expressed about the topic in the forums. If you have thoughts, please phone them in and I’ll incorporate them!

I’ll keep you posted!
