Episode 12 of GateBuzz covers the Mmolecule interview given by Conan Brink, Sean Dugan’s interview with Warcry and the exclusive Q & A session hosted by the Stargate Worlds Wiki team along with thoughts about Stargate “canon” and the US Supreme Court!

Cannon is just a general consensus of the community on what is and what should not have been. I’ve found that so far, the only thing that is not cannon is the original movie, even though most of the movie’s facts are still regarded as true.
We actually have 11 years of Stargate.
Baal and Neruse never gave up on their facade of “god.” They merely realized that I didn’t matter in front of certain people. I think the systems lords can still pretend to be gods in the game.
Eve Online (rather, their clients) pays dearly for the amount of people they have on their server. If you are viewing hundreds of people on your screen, it’s slow. But if those hundreds start fighting, your screwed. You might not even know you’re dead for a while. So their system is good when the players are spread out(they can have as many players as they want: “We got another thousand subscriber? Oh, ok, let’s jsut throw another few of machines in the mix and hope they don’t all go to Jita.”. 3000 is a good number.
Great episode man! I think this is my favorite one so far!
Keep it up man your awesome!
Good show. A couple of things tho.
If you are running a Win Server with external connections that can’t be identified uniquely you have to get an enterprise license or processor license not a per seat one. Also, you need an enterprise license for the OS and Database. Cost wise its 3k for the datacenter edition and 2k for the external connector license. SQL server would be $50K per dual processor machine. That is what would kill a companies budget. Oracle is even worse 40k per processor for the base database plus options. I know my company pays close to 100k per box for our Oracle DB.
No matter what tech you go with you still will buy a maintenance and support contract. So there is really no such thing as ‘free’
Daoc, in order to cut down on Database server costs wrote their own.
Which begs the quest of what StgW will use.
Pythong scripting I’ve never used it myself.
I think the bigger point is that StgW “ Combin(es) Unreal Engine 3 technology with Big World’s™ client server technology”
So their strategy is to use other peoples low cost technology, to keep their total cost down. That means they could conceivable “only” have 100k subscriber yet make a profit.
